PLEASE NOTE:
- Returning residents are students who are currently living on campus.
- Available communities for Returning residents are Manzanita Square (MSQ), University Park North (UPN), and University Park South (UPS).
Steps to Apply
APPLY, SIGN & PAY

Log into the Housing Portal using your SF State Student ID number and password and click on the apply link to start your application.
- After completing the application, sign the License Agreement and pay the initial payment. Information about the initial payment can be found on the fee schedule.
Please Note: Your housing application will not be complete until you have signed the license agreement and submitted the initial payment.
SELECT YOUR ROOMMATE
(UPN & UPS communities only)
Once the roommate selection process opens, returning residents who applied for UPN & UPS will be allowed to select their roommate. Click the 'Important Dates & Deadlines' button for the Roommate Selection Process start/end date.
Please Note: Roommates will be assigned for Residents who apply for MSQ or those who apply after the Roommate Selection Process ends.
RECEIVE YOUR ROOM SELECTION TIMESLOT
(UPN & UPS communities only)
Returning residents who apply to the UPN or UPS communities will receive a room selection timeslot to select their room.
Click the 'Important Dates & Deadlines' button to see when the room selection timeslots will be available on the Housing Portal.

Log into the Housing Portal at your assigned time to select your room. Room availability is first-come, first-serve.
Click the 'Important Dates & Deadlines' button to see the Room Selection Process start/end date.

Roommate & Room Selection Process

Eligibility
All applicants will need to:
- Be a current resident for spring 2023 and have a university account that is in good financial standing.
- Complete a 2023-2024 housing application, sign the License Agreement and pay the initial payment.

Roommate Group Size
Roommate groups can consist of 2, 3, or 5 people total. Below are the recommended group sizes for each unit layout:
- 1 bedroom | 2 people
- 2 bedrooms | 2 or 3 people
- 3 bedrooms | 2, 3 or 5 people
