Move-in FAQs

Move-in dates and times are assigned based on your room location. This helps us manage the flow of traffic and elevator usage during the move-in. Please be sure to arrive at your assigned move-in day and time.

If you need to move in after August 19 or 20, you will need to check in directly at your community front desk. Please note that move-in assistance will not be available after these dates, and charges will not be adjusted for a late move-in.

Unless pre-approved, do not arrive before August 19.

If you arrive outside of your assigned time, you may have to wait in the holding area until your vehicle can accommodated at the next step in the move-in process.

Your SFSU OneCard Mobile Credential is needed for Move-in Day. To avoid any delays, be sure to set it up prior to Move-in Day. Your Mobile Credential also provides access to your building/room (in select communities), meal plan, campus services and more.

Move-in staff will help students unload their vehicles in all communities except for University Park North and University Park South.

To help you move your belongings to your room, a limited number of moving bins will be available for checkout at all communities except for University Park South. We recommend that you bring your own dolly or hand truck, even if a moving bin is available for rent at your community.

Only 2 guests per resident may help with move-in.

To minimize congestion in unloading areas, only 1 vehicle per resident is allowed for move-in. Any additional vehicles will need to go directly to Lot 20 levels 1-3.

Due to a max clearance of 6’8”, large trucks, trailers, or recreational vehicles cannot be accommodated in Lot 20 or the Manzanita Square parking garage.

Yes. Long-term parking in Lot 20 will be free on August 19 and 20. Be sure to follow all parking restrictions as SFSU is not responsible for any parking violations.

Meal plans included in the License Agreement will be activated at the time of check-in.

Residents with parking permits for the Village garage cannot utilize their assigned space until after 6 p.m. on August 20th. Residents with parking permits in UPS and UPN can utilize their assigned space upon check-in.

University Park North (UPN) is the only residential community with parking spaces available. UPN residents can purchase a residential parking permit via the Student Housing Portal. All other residents can purchase a parking permit for Lot 20 through Parking and Transportation.

You may submit a Room Change Request form via the Student Housing Portal starting 2 weeks after move-in. Please note that requests are not guaranteed and are dependent on space availability.

If you need support adjusting to life on campus you may reach out to your Resident Assistance or you may stop by your community desk if you need any other type of assistance from a Residential Life Team member.
