Move-in FAQs

We are unable to accommodate early arrivals. Please aim to move-in on Saturday, January 27th between 10 a.m. – 2 p.m.  This is when we will have the most staff available to answer questions and welcome you to campus.

After 2 p.m. on Move-in Day, keys will be available to pick up at your respective Community Desk.

Your SF State Student ID card is needed for check-in on Move-in Day. If you have not yet received your ID, you can use a government-issued ID to check-in, but you should request your ID as soon as possible. To request your SF State ID and for pick-up location information, visit the OneCard Office. The OneCard Office will be open from 10 a.m. - 2 p.m. on Move-in Day.

To help you move your belongings, moving bins will be available for checkout at all communities except for Manzanita Square and University Park South. View the ‘Move-in Process’ page for more details.

It is our recommendation that you bring no more than two guests to assist with move-in.

To best manage traffic and parking congestion, only one vehicle will be allowed per resident.

Due to a max clearance of 6’8”, large trucks, trailers, or recreational vehicles cannot be accommodated in Lot 20 or the Manzanita Square parking garage.

No. Parking fees are in effect during move-in. Be sure to follow all parking restrictions as SF State is not responsible for any parking violations.

Face coverings are strongly recommended, but not required during the move-in process. View the Move-in Day 'Health & Safety Requirements' page in the Move-in Guide and the 'Housing COVID-19 Information' page for more information.

Vaccinations will not be required for those providing assistance, however, for preventative measures we highly recommend that they are.

Meal plans included in the License Agreement will be activated at the time of check-in.

Yes, the office will be open from 9 AM to 4 PM on Move-in Day.

Yes, you can pay by check or certified funds at the Student Housing Office, however, we strongly encourage you to utilize the online payment option through your student center. Visit the ‘Payment Information’ page for more details.

No. If you have an issue that can be resolved by Facilities Services, submit a service request.

Residents with parking permits for the Village garage can not utilize there assigned space until after 2 p.m. on Move-in Day. Residents with parking permits in UPS and UPN can utilize their assigned space upon check-in.

Parking for all communities is currently full. 

You may submit a Room Change Request form via the Student Housing Portal starting on February 5th. Please Note that requests are not guaranteed and are dependent on space availability.

If you need support adjusting to life on campus you may reach out to your Resident Assistance or you may stop by your community desk if you need any other type of assistance from a Residential Life Team member.

Flex dollars will start on February 13th.
